Frequently Asked Questions

Where is MHLS Located?

We are located in Lansing, Michigan, about 5 miles away from the State Capitol building.

What does MHLS tuition cover?

Tuition at MHLS covers orientation, material, textbooks, classes, seminars, ministry experience, and graduation fees.

When is the MHLS school-year application deadline?

The MHLS Application deadline is two weeks before the Fall Term begins.

Where can I find a calendar for the MHLS school year?

The academic calendar can be found on MHLS.me under Academics and is in the MHLS Catalog on page 16. MHLS admits students in the Fall Term, so only the fall Academic Calendar is listed. A more detailed schedule is given to students at MHLS Orientation.

Does MHLS provide housing?

For students who are not able to commute each day, we do offer host homes when available. Additionally, there are also multiple apartment communities within a one-mile radius of the school, and we work to set up several students in the same apartment to make it more affordable for each student. There is a list of the apartments and pricing found here.

Is there a mandatory mission trip?

Missions Track students are required to take a mission trip. We also highly recommend it for all other ministry track students. Missions trips are outstanding experiences that cause students to grow spiritually and trust God in unique and power ways.

Does MHLS offer transferable credits?

MHLS is licensed through the State of Michigan as a proprietary school, a school that prepares students for a ministry vocation. The MHLS curriculum is specific to ministry, leadership, and requirements for Assemblies of God (AG) credentialling. Accreditation is needed for transferability of credits. At the present time, there is no accrediting association for proprietary schools. Global University courses taught at MHLS are accredited and can be transferable to other AG schools. Transfer credits would be decided by the school you are applying to after MHLS.

Do you accept international students?

MHLS is currently in process of approval to receive international students by United States Department of Homeland Security. We believe God has called us to reach and teach the nations, so we are excited to hear from the Student and Exchange Visitor Program soon.

What is the minimum and maximum age for MHLS?

Per the State of Michigan, the minimum age is 17 with a High School Diploma. MHLS has no maximum age limit—if you have a call to ministry on your life, whether your 18 or 80, we are all about equipping you and releasing you into your purpose.

Does MHLS provide financial aid?

MHLS is not a federal or state funded school and does not have Title IV funding available. The cost for MHLS is structured to be cost-effective for anyone desiring to be trained for leadership in ministry.

What if I don’t know my ministry track preference?

That is totally okay, we can assist you and selecting the right ministry experience that serves the unique call on your life. Many students figure it out along the way, or switch tracks as it gets clearer. You know what they say … it’s easier to steer something that is moving. Let’s do this!
